On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, Tendaji Community Development Corporation’s (Tendaji) Director of Educational Services, Shelia Hayes, was awarded the Education Champions Brick Layer Award by the Little Rock School District (LRSD), the District’s Leadership Institute Committee and Superintendent Mike Poore. The district awards various community leaders, organizations, and volunteers each year based on their work to improve LRSD. The theme of this year’s award was “Building a Strong Foundation, Engaging Minds, Empowering Success: The Power of Us.”
“I’m both honored and humbled,” said Hayes. “I’m proud of the work Tendaji does for the students and families of central Arkansas. Tendaji’s mission is to make lasting change in the lives of young people and families by helping them realize their full potential. We’re happy to have a partner like the Little Rock School District that understands and believes in our mission and the important work we do every day. I’m truly grateful to receive this accolade on behalf of this wonderful organization.”
Hayes received the award alongside other recipients, including AR Kids Read and Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
